Haven Ladies Complete Mini Marathon for CRY Ireland

On 2nd June 2019, the Haven Pharmacy ladies took part in the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon where over 30,000 women from all around the country came together to walk, jog or run 10km through the streets of Dublin.

This year, Haven Pharmacy joined up with Cry Ireland: CRY – ‘Cardiac Risk in the Young’ a national screening and support programme at Tallaght University Hospital which provides free screening services for those at risk and also counselling & support for families bereaved by sudden cardiac death. Over 5,000 people suffer sudden cardiac death in Ireland each year, of which 60-80 people are under the age of 35 years. Since CRY started in 2007 over 6,000 individuals have been seen at the CRY Centre (over 10,000 patient appointments) with many patients require repeat visits as often as every 3 months. Patients and families have travelled from every county in Ireland, north and south for this free service – that’s why funding is crucial for this charity.

Congratulations to the 80 participants on Team CRY who completed the event… The 10km was tough going in the summer heat – but spirits were high and we certainly had a lot of fun along the way!

Special thanks to Lucia Ebbs, CEO of CRY Ireland, for her tireless efforts in organising the t-shirts, goody bags, sponsorship cards and photographer on the day. We even made it in to The Herald in the Mini Moments Souvenir Magazine!!

Massive thank you to all of our generous Haven Pharmacy customers for supporting this amazing cause, you too can show your support by donating what you can here https://cry.ie/index.php/donate/
